Privacy Policy
Last updated 5 August 2026. This policy explains what ActuVoyage does with information when you read our reviews of game app development companies, and what you can ask us to do about it.
1. Who we are
ActuVoyage is an independent editorial project that reviews and ranks companies building mobile game applications for hire. We publish research at actuvoyage.com and we are the party responsible for deciding how information collected through this website is handled. When this policy says "we", "us" or "our", it means the ActuVoyage editorial team.
We do not sell software, take development briefs or act as an agency. Our relationship with the studios we cover is limited to research, and in some cases to affiliate arrangements described in section 9 of this policy and in our Terms and Conditions.
2. What information we collect
Most people read ActuVoyage without giving us anything at all. The information that does reach us falls into three groups: technical data your browser sends with every request, such as IP address, user agent, language preference and the address of the page that linked you here; behavioural data about which pages and reviews are opened and how long they are read; and anything you type voluntarily into the support chat window.
We do not ask for names, postal addresses, payment details or identity documents anywhere on this site, and we do not operate accounts or logins. If you volunteer personal details inside a chat message, that content is treated as described in section 5.
3. Why we process it
Technical data is processed to serve pages reliably, to keep the site available and to detect automated abuse such as scraping and denial of service attempts. Behavioural data is processed to understand which reviews are useful, which sections people abandon and where our writing is unclear, so that editorial effort goes where readers actually spend time.
Chat content is processed for one purpose only: answering the question that was asked. We do not use it for profiling, we do not build reader profiles across sessions, and we do not enrich it with data bought from third parties.
4. Legal grounds
Where privacy law requires a legal basis, we rely on legitimate interest for the technical and security processing described above, because a website cannot be delivered or defended without it and the impact on readers is minimal. For optional analytics and any non-essential cookie we rely on your consent, collected through the banner that appears on your first visit and revocable at any time.
If you withdraw consent, analytics stops for your device on the next page load. Necessary processing continues, since the site cannot function without it.
5. The support chat
The chat assistant on this site answers common questions about budgets, timelines, platforms and our scoring method using pattern matching in your own browser. Messages are held in the page while the conversation is open and are discarded when the tab closes or reloads. They are not written to a database and they are not read by a human in real time.
Because the assistant is automated, please do not use it to send confidential business information, contract terms, credentials or anything you would not want to type into a public form. If you have a sensitive question, contact the studio in question directly.
6. Cookies and local storage
We use a small number of cookies and one local storage entry. The local storage entry records the choice you made in the cookie banner so that the banner does not reappear on every page. Analytics cookies, when you allow them, count visits and measure how far down a review people read.
A complete list of what each cookie does, who sets it and how long it lasts is published in our Cookie Policy. Clearing your browser storage removes all of it, including your consent choice, which is why the banner returns after a clean-up.
7. Analytics and measurement
When analytics is permitted, we collect aggregate counts: page views, referrers, approximate region derived from IP address, device class and scroll depth. We deliberately avoid features that build cross-site profiles, and we do not run advertising pixels that follow readers around the web.
Reports we look at are aggregated. We can see that a given review was opened several thousand times last month; we cannot see that you personally opened it, and we do not attempt to.
8. Who else sees data
Three categories of third party may process information on our behalf: the hosting provider that serves these pages and keeps standard server logs, the analytics provider if you consented to analytics, and any security service filtering malicious traffic. Each acts under contract and may only use the data to deliver the service we asked for.
We do not sell, rent or trade reader data. We do not pass reader data to the studios we review. The only situation in which we would disclose information outside that list is a binding legal demand, and then only to the extent the law requires.
9. Outbound links to studios
When you use a View more control, a short interstitial page sends you to the website of the company you selected, sometimes with a tracking parameter that lets that company credit the referral to us. We may earn a commission from those referrals, which is disclosed in the footer of every page and in our Terms and Conditions.
Once you land on a studio website you are on their property and their privacy policy applies. We have no control over what they collect, no access to what you submit there, and no ability to delete it on your behalf.
10. How long we keep things
Server logs are retained for up to 30 days, after which they are deleted or reduced to aggregate counters. Aggregated analytics data may be kept for up to 26 months so that we can compare year on year interest in a topic. Chat content is not retained at all beyond the open session.
Your cookie consent record stays in your browser until you clear it or until 12 months have passed, at which point we ask again.
11. Security
The site is served over encrypted connections, administrative access is limited to the editorial team using multi-factor authentication, and we keep the software behind the site patched. We store as little as possible on the theory that the safest record is the one that was never created.
No system is immune. If a breach ever affected reader data in a way that created real risk, we would publish a notice on this site and inform the relevant supervisory authority within the timeframe the law sets.
12. International transfers
Our providers may process data on servers located outside your country, including in the European Union and the United States. Where that happens we rely on the transfer mechanisms our providers offer, such as standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision covering the destination country.
If you would like to know which providers are involved at the time you are reading this, ask us and we will tell you which services are in use.
13. Your rights
Depending on where you live you may have the right to access the data we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to object to processing based on legitimate interest, to withdraw consent, to receive a copy in a portable format, and to complain to a data protection authority. Canadian readers can also raise concerns with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Because we hold so little that is linked to an individual, most access requests can be answered quickly. To help us find anything at all, include the approximate date and the page you were reading when you contact us.
14. Children
This is a business to business publication about hiring development studios and it is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16, and we have no features that would encourage a child to submit anything.
If you believe a child has sent us information through the chat window, tell us and we will confirm that nothing was stored, since chat content never leaves the browser session.
15. Changes to this policy
We update this policy when our tooling changes, when a provider is replaced or when the law moves. The date at the top of the page always reflects the current version, and material changes will be flagged in the cookie banner so that returning readers notice them.
Continuing to use the site after an update means the revised policy applies to your visit. If you disagree with a change, the practical remedy is to stop using the site and clear the storage this domain has set.
16. Contact
Questions about this policy, requests about your data and corrections to a review can all be sent through the contact channels published on our social profiles, which are linked in the footer of every page. We answer privacy requests in the order they arrive and aim to respond within 30 days.
If your question concerns a specific studio rather than this website, contacting that studio directly will always be faster than routing it through us.
